Classic Car Addict is now offering this 1978 Ford F150 Ranger XLT for sale in our Mesa showroom. What other pickup exudes the go-anywhere, do-anything kind of attitude that this 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger does? Rugged, powerful, and built when trucks were industrial-strength tools, not image machines for guys with insecurity problems, this truck remains an outstanding piece of Ford history.
The sixth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and medium-duty commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from 1972 to 1979. This generation was launched in December 1972 for the 1973 model year. These were the last generation of trucks to use the F-Series chassis introduced in 1965. After a decade as a compact SUV, the Bronco was redesigned as a shortened version of the F-Series. This generation also marks the introduction of the F-150, which today is the most popular model. This generation is noted for the body panels' durability as Ford used extensive amounts of galvanized sheet metal to fight corrosion. In 1976, the F-Series became the best-selling trucks in America, a position it has continued to hold ever since.

The familiar Wimbledon White and Dark Brown Metallic finish appears to be original. This is a driver, not a show queen. The way trucks like this should be. Ford wasn't flashy in 1969, this was a working man's tool, not a fashion statement; so, it was attractive but not over-done. The bodywork is straight, the panels line up, and the bed is in decent shape. The chrome and stainless trim give the upscale Ranger its more sophisticated look. It also has a 6-inch lift and some aggressive tires.

The white vinyl/blue velour bench seat looks fresh with new what appears to be original carpet. With plenty of room, excellent visibility, and a comfortable driving position, this is a truck you can use for long hauls as well as daily transportation. All four trim levels (Custom, Ranger, Ranger XLT, and Ranger Lariat) were available with all models, although the Custom & Ranger XLT trim levels were not available in Crew Cab form.

Power comes from a stout 460 5.8-liter V8 with C6 automatic transmission. This Ranger XLT also features working 4WD. This was a factory AC truck, but it does need service. Mechanically this truck runs and drives excellently. This truck starts up and runs as it did near 40 years ago when Ford rolled it out of the factory, and with everything that has been done to restore it to its beauty it looks and sounds like it has a whole lot of life left to live!

This 78 Ford F-100 Ranger is ready to go to work. We provide transport to your driveway - Ask a Classic Car Addict specialist for more details. Call us today 480-256-1459!
