Although at first glance the Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce is much like any other cruiser style Harley| the Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce is| in fact| a real beauty. The Deuce is the most radically new Harley-Davidson motorcycle since the Hydra-Glide. But throw a leg over this one| punch the starter button and its millennium time. Gone is the jackhammer vibration. No lumpy idle either| at least with the optional fuel injection. Easy starts| a smooth ride| a relatively comfortable seat| feet-forward riding position| a decent set of brakes and the look of a custom. It has a long| sleek tank| a way-low seat| a bobbed rear fender| and some of the slickest custom-bike styling touches ever home-grown in Milwaukee. Yet despite its cool| clean| show bike appearance| the Deuce is one of the most fun| functional models in the entire H-D lineup| with on-the-road performance to match its at-the-curb good looks. Our HD has a 2006 Deuce special paint job done in yellow pearl and deep cobalt with pinstriping. Foundation for the Deuce is the same chassis found beneath the Softail Standard and Night Train| all three of which share a 34-degree head angle. Not exactly a true chopperesque kickout| but it's the most rake available in the entire H-Dline. The gas tank has a longer| thinner teardrop shape than other H-D tanks| giving it a mildly stretched appearance| and its a one-piece unit| as well; the dueling gas caps (the left one is a dummy cap that houses the fuel gauge) were retained just for looks. The LePera seat is a deeply scooped saddle that blends smoothly into the rearward slope of the gas tank| and the short rear fender has a straight| horizontal cutoff paralleled by curvaceous| chromed braces that attach to the fender without any visible hardware. No matter where you lookat the tiny| narrow-gauge rear turn signals| the flush-mount taillight| the stylish| chromed instrument console| the fully chromed front forkyou see ultra-cool hardware. We forgot to mention that this one has heated grips! This 2001 HD is equipped with a 95-inch screaming eagle motor with heads| cams| carb| pistons and was upgraded with Vance and Hines pro-pipe exhaust. Consignor states that it has 100HP at the rear wheel. Additional items are new tires and a new battery. Motor was recently gone through by Harley Davidson in MN.
