1964.5 Ford Mustang
Classic Car Addict is excited to present this 1964.5 Ford Mustang for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by Ford from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobiles known as pony cars. The Mustang's styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition. The earliest Mustangs are widely referred to as the “1964.5” model by enthusiasts.
The front buckets and rear bench seat were upholstered in white vinyl and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. The Mustang does have factory installed air conditioning; it is not currently working. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The factory AM radio is not currently working. The five-digit odometer shows 75,026 miles.
The Mustang left the factory in Vintage Burgandy and was repainted red under previous ownership. Details include a left side mirror, fender badging, bright rocker panel moldings, and chrome finished bumpers. It rolls on 14” Mustang rims with Michelin Defender tires, 185/65R14's all the way around. DOT on tires is from 2019. Braking is handled by front and rear drums.
The 289ci V8 was factory rated at 271 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a rear axle with 3.00 gears. The warranty number is consistent with a 1965.4 Mustang coupe that was built in Dearborn, Michigan, and equipped with a 289ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor.
