Classic Car Addict is proud to present this 1965convertible Ford Mustang for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. The early first-generation Mustangs are truly superb vehicles. With a meaty V8 drivetrain, before Ford started to add weight and strangle the engines in the early 70s, they really are a delightful and surprisingly fleet-footed machine. What we have here is a very early 'C code' convertible Mustang. That means this was factory fitted with the 289ci two-barrel V8, offering a chunky 200hp – more than enough in what is quite a small car.
The cabin is trimmed in the original white crinkle vinyl low-back bucket seats with matching door panels. The carpet is finished in blue; the carpets are original. A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just over 85K miles, total mileage is unknown. This is an Arizona vehicle, out of Casa Grande its whole life. The Mustang is equipped with factory air that blows nice and cold! Consignor states that he did have the dash replaced in black due to original one having cracks.
The body was repainted in Midnight Blue Metallic, paint refresh was done a few years ago, this was the second repaint. The original factory color was Caspian Blue (H), and you can see that under the hood, trunk, and under trunk lip. The glass all the way around is in great condition as well as the chrome window trim. The original white vinyl top is also in excellent condition, but rear plastic window in convertible top needs replaced. Chrome bumpers and molding are in good condition.
The 289ci “Windsor” two-barrel V8 with a three speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission runs and drives like it should! Recent receipts show rebuilt carburetor, new chrome valve covers, new fuel pump, new air filter, new ignition coil and they replaced the convertible top cylinder. As you can see from the photos, no expense was spared in the engine bay. Drum brakes all the way around with BF Goodrich 205/70R14 tires with Cragar rims.
Don't miss out on owning this gorgeous Mustang. They say that the Ford Mustang is one of the longest surviving breeds of a classic pony car, and the generation that started the line has aged well.
