1968 Convertible Chevrolet Impala

Classic Car Addict would like to present this convertible 1968 Chevrolet Impala for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. In the late 1960s, the Chevrolet division of General Motors reigned over the domestic auto industry. In 1968 alone, Chevy produced more than two million automobiles, leading the sales charts by a country mile, and nearly outselling all the other GM car divisions combined. Of these two million-plus sales, more than 700,000 were scored by Impala, the brand's wildly successful entry in the full-size class. The Impala then virtually defined the family-car category, which was the major slice of the new car market in those days.
The teal interior appears to be almost entirely original in the rear, but the front seats and doors appear to have been redone. Bench seats offer spacious accommodations for full-sized adults and the blue carpets, and a matching dash contain factory instruments that cover the basics.
The hardtop has a great semi-formal look that contrasts neatly with Fathom Blue Poly paint and a new white vinyl top. There are acres of steel on these cars, and it looks great, although the older repaint is starting to show signs of age. It presents quite well at a glance, that's why the price reflects this. They didn't feel the need to add gaudy details like stripes or custom hoods, but instead focused on an overall finish that replicates what it might have looked like in, say, 1970. Nice, but not perfect and ideal for driving.
It features a 307 cubic inch V8 under the hood, and before you dismiss a small block in a big Impala, come give this one a drive. A burly 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission pretty much guarantees you won't have to worry about breakage and the dual exhaust system has a mellow sound that's still comfortable for long highway drives. The suspension rides beautifully, reminding us that the Impala was a luxury vehicle. Just came from the mechanic with a new fuel tank, filter, and pump.
